Developing our IT Systems
UK Pallets has recently developed and implemented UK Pallets On-Line, a user friendly IT System that seamlessly joins together all aspects of our operations.
In simple terms, it’s an end to end system that manages freight from the point of collection, through the hub, out to our Members (strategically positioned around the UK) and then onto the end delivery point. It’s a web based system which can be installed straight onto the customers own computer.
For regular and high volume customers, UK Pallets provides a thermal label printer so that customers can manifest all consignments and label pallets at the point of despatch. Whilst occasional users can also reap the benefits by printing paper labels prior to the arrival of the collection driver.
Implementing weight checking facilities
Once a UK Pallets Member depot has collected pallets and sent them to the central hub, the next stage is to check and verify all the details.
We have invested heavily in building and installing ‘checking tunnels’ for both in-bound and out-bound freight, allowing all pallets entering the depot to be scanned and receipted. Freight is automatically weighed by means of fork truck mounted weigh scales.
We have developed our own system to incorporate permanent fixing scanners to the front of the forklift which are automatically activated as the forklift approaches the pallet, reading the barcode label at the same time as weighing the freight. The data is automatically transmitted to UK Pallets On-Line.
Continuing to improve
Even in these uncertain times, UK Pallets, with the backing of our parent company Business Post Group, have continued to invest in our network and facilities. More enhancements are planned for the future.
